RYA  Coastal Skipper Practical Motor Cruising Course

Aim: To teach the skills and techniques required to skipper a motor boat safely on coastal and offshore passages by day and night.

Experience required: Day Skipper course certificate15 Days on Board (2 as Skipper), 300 miles and eight night hours. You will find the course easier if you have already completed Coastal/Yachtmaster Shorebased, as the navigation elements are more advanced than for Day Skipper .

The course: The emphasis during the week is on decision making, skippering techniques, passage planning, seamanship, good navigation and boathandling. This is a practical training week with an assessment of the candidates, ability and potential.

Duration: 4 days + 1 day for RYA / DOT Coastal Skipper exam if required.

Cruising area: The cruising area for this course is Northwest England , Wales , Scotland and Ireland

RYA / MCA: The RYA. / DoT Coastal Skipper exam may be taken after this course (subject to satisfactory completion), should you require this certificate, please let the Principal know in advance as.

Recognising that some of our clients prefer to sleep ashore rather than on board, we can provide an itinerary before booking the course, so that you can book into hotels/guest houses along the route.
